A young brilliant sailor returned to South Africa and decided in 2005 to embark on a design session to create a new access control mechanism making use of a then, very unknown GSM technology. From humble beginnings on a garage floor with engineering minds gathered to figure a workable solution to today, 26 years later (Collective knowledge), and recognized as the industry leader in Access Management systems.  Comb Communications prides itself on innovation and dynamic product development in the overall Access Management environment. 

From 2013 to 2015 the (IDC) Department of Trade and Industry awarded an innovation incentive to Comb based on the radicalization of the standard, hard-wired fixed intercom market to a seamless, mobile environment.  This company has a strong core in the Research and Development of new ideas in the Internet of Things (IoT) space.  Innovation and creativity are welcomed and fully supported.  

As an electronic product manufacturer, (Electronic design and manufacturer) the MK II family of intercom systems, TAP TAP keypad and BT loaders are all proudly South African innovations, and the BT loader device even carries a patent. Recognized in the international electronic production environment, Comb was hosted by Sierra Wireless international in Paris, France in 2017 in recognition of product excellence. 

In addition, the Comb Portal allows for API interface with providers in the safety, security and communications environment. (*)
